Description
LVI Mobil 1 German Grand Prix, 31 July 1994
Hockenheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
45 laps, 307.035 km - Third Place (1:21:42.314)
Race-used / Podium helmet
In a race of high attrition, including eleven retirements on the opening lap, only eight cars finished, with French drivers Olivier Panis and Éric Bernard second and third respectively in their Ligier-Renault JS39.
Bernard's best finish in Formula 1 was third place at the German Grand Prix in 1994. The helmet presented here is the very one used by Bernard during the Sunday race, earning a podium finishing. The fully traceable provenance along with careful cross examination of the helmet against historical picture reveal without a doubt, that this piece has not only made F1 history on track (alongside legends like Senna, Schumacher, Hakkinen, etc...), but took part in one of the most unexpected, exciting and memorable race of the 90's, if not of the sport's history.
